Albany Technical College announces new nursing program leadership & partnership with Phoebe, plans ‘Living and Learning Community’ campus
ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Technical College has announced new leadership as they continue to make progress on their ‘Living and Learning Community’.
In that announcement, Dr. Morris Clarington is being named the new Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences…
And, he’s facilitating student recruitment for the new community partnership with Phoebe.
“I’ve been brought aboard to help with the management and recruitment of nurses and the recruitment of new students. Our four legacy programs will be housed in the new facility, once it’s built. It should be completed by fall of 2024,” said Dr. Morris Clarington, ATC Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.
And, the new faculty will be needed for the living and learning community with the amount of students they’re expecting next fall.
“We’re anticipating somewhere around 380 plus students at this new location. And as a result of that, we’ll need new leadership to oversee this very very important aspect that not only includes the four legacy programs we’ll be going over…” said Lisa Stephens, ATC Assoc. V.P. Business & Healthcare.
And, with the need for new nurses being a constant, the new leadership for the ‘Living and Learning Community’ wants to branch out…
“Because of where our hospital sits in the county, the service area that our technical college serves is not geographically in the center of Albany, it’s not the center in terms of location. So, this presents a unique opportunity for those that are more than 40 miles away…” said Stephens.
“We’re constantly having to find new and innovative ways to reach those nurses that are out there. So, we want to try and get people inspired to go into nursing as a healthcare profession and possibly reach out to nurses who are retired or are looking for new opportunities,” said Dr. Clarington.
With the ‘Living and Learning Community’ still on track for their 2024 opening date, the leadership in position now is optimistic they’re going to fill those remaining gaps before that opening date.
Albany Tech says the new ‘Living and Learning Community’ campus is set to finish construction by summer of 2024.
