Albany Technical College announces EMT certification program achievements

ALBANY, Ga. – The academic success of Albany Technical College continues, whether it be achieving Cognia accreditation or achieving 100% pass rates, but this time it comes from the EMT program.

Albany Technical College is proud to announce that their 2023 EMT cohort has achieved an 100% pass rate on both the psychomotor skills exam and the cognitive exam.

“Our students completed the EMT certification program here at Albany tech. They attended two days a week for 25 weeks and the successful completion of that allowed them to take the national registry, which is the national certifying exam at the EMT level,” said Tracie Naylor-Griffin, Paramedicine Program Chair.

Since January 2017, the last 6 EMT cohort exams have held a 100% pass rate from the students of Albany Tech.

This is the Charles Gillespie First Responders Building, named in honor of the father of EMS, Dr. Charles Gillspie. Dr. Gillespie is a well-known orthopedic surgeon and former teacher of Albany Tech, who pushed for the establishment of funding of EMS in Georgia.

We have three full time faculty members, yself., and then Brandon “Ace” Kent, is the Lead Instructor for the EMT program, and then Thad Minick is our Clinical Coordinator for the program,” she said.

“We all have the idea of excellence always and we all strive to do that. Whenever the team comes together and has the same goal, then the goal is always achieved,” she said.
