ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University is placing a spotlight on their students’ health, with their Wellfest carnival, aimed at enhancing health awareness and education.

Albany State University hosted their Wellfest carnival at the C.W. Grant Student Union.

Students were granted access to a range of essential health resources, including preventative health screenings, valuable giveaways, and holistic well-being education.

“Wellfest 2023 is our second annual Wellfest. It is spear-headed by two departments; Counseling & Student Accessibility Services and Student Health Services. We get a tremendous amount of support from our Vice President of Student Affairs. Wellfest 2023 is an opportunity to educate our students, our faculty and staff about our campus resources and community resources. It really is our commitment to ensuring that students have access to mental health resources, health resources, and really any other resources that support their holistic well-being,” said Simone Bradley, Director, Counseling & Student Accessibility Services.

ASU Director of Counseling & Student Accessibility Services director, Simone Bradley, expands on the impact of the Wellfest, highlighting that its benefits extend beyond just the student population.

“Although in our department in Student Health Services our focus is students, this is still an opportunity to invite community exhibitors to partner with us here at Albany State University and to showcase offer. Whether it be massage therapy, nutrition, healthy food options, we have HIV screenings today. We realize that, when it comes to health and well-being to truly takes a community. So, this is something that not only students can take advantage of, but our staff and faculty, and anybody in the community that’s visiting here on campus today can advantage of today as well,” said Bradley.
