Albany Police searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect after shooting at apartment complex
(Albany, GA) On February 18, 2026, officers responded to the 2500 block of Nottingham Way (Village Apartments) in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, Christopher Rapley (31), had been shot by his girlfriend’s brother, Davaion Leroy (19).
Preliminary investigation revealed that Leroy caught a ride from Warner Robins to Albany earlier this morning with Michael Gray (44). Shortly after arriving in Albany, Leroy went to his sister’s residence, where a family altercation ensued. During the altercation, Leroy fired one round at his sister’s boyfriend (Rapley). Rapley was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
Following the shooting, Michael Gray (who witnessed the shooting) assisted Leroy in fleeing the scene by transporting him from the scene to another location. Gray then attempted to travel back to Warner Robins. Gray’s vehicle was later spotted and stopped by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office. The three occupants of the vehicle were transported back to Albany for questioning. Several witnesses were interviewed.
Gray was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension or Punishment of a Criminal. Leroy currently has active warrants for Aggravated Assault (Firearm), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes.
