Albany Museum of Art’s Yoga in the Gallery
ALBANY, Ga. – Tranquility meets culture at the Albany Museum of Art, as they welcome residents to stretch their creativity.
The Albany Museum of Art has announced that its “Yoga in the Gallery” sessions will now be held monthly. These hour-long sessions aim to promote peace and relaxation for all participants.
“And, we’re back to doing it now every first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. here in the Haley Gallery at the Albany Museum of Art. Right now it is being taught by a certified yogi, Renea Miller, and she brings a lot of great energy and calmness to the space. All you really need to bring is your yoga mat and yourself. It is $5 for AMA donors and $10 for non-donors,” said Annie Vanoteghem, AMA Director of Education and Public Programming.
Annie Vanoteghem, Director of Education and Public Programming for the Albany Museum of Art, provides further insight into the exhibit.
“It will usually be a different exhibition that you’ll get to see. And, this current one, the beauty and humble places is by David Lanier, and it’s a very homey, warm exhibition, so I think it’s going to go with a great practice,” said Vanoteghem.
Vanoteghem explains how this unique experience aligns the physical practice of yoga with the nature of art, offering a holistic approach to both wellness and culture.
“A lot of times when people come into a gallery or exhibition, they’ll walk through some will walk through it faster than others, but not as often do we sit down and spend time with the artwork, looking at it from a different perspective. It is just an opportunity to really take in the work and experience it in a different way,” said Vanoteghem.
