Albany Museum of Art invites student artists to enter juried exhibition

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Museum of Art (AMA) is calling all young creators across Southwest Georgia to show off their talents. Middle and high school students are invited to submit their best pieces for the Second Annual Juried Southwest Georgia Student Art Exhibition, opening Saturday, November 15, during The Heart of Albany Festival.

High school participants will have the chance to win cash prizes, while festivalgoers can vote for a People’s Choice Award.

Students may submit up to two original works created between November 1, 2024, and November 7, 2025. Categories include Abstract, Technical, Enhanced Photography/Digital, and Sculpture/3D Art.

Albany Museum of Art Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Van Oteghem says this event gives young artists an opportunity to gain real-world recognition.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to have their work shown in a museum setting,” Van Oteghem said. “We have a wealth of art talent in the schools in our region, and this is an opportunity for them to shine.”

The submission deadline is Friday, November 7th, and the exhibition will remain on view through January 3, 2026, in the museum’s West Gallery.

Full contest details, category descriptions, and a link to the online application can be found on the Albany Museum of Art’s website at albanymuseum.com/events/heartfest/participate.

The Albany Museum of Art is located at 311 Meadowlark Drive and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
