Albany man facing charges, attempted to set ex-wife on fire

ALBANY, Ga. – Monday, Albany Police Department officers responded to the 1000 block of Clark Avenue in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, it was determined that this incident was a domestic dispute.

43-year-old Marcus Walker entered his ex-wife’s home where he poured gasoline on her several items.

When Walker’s ex-wife, her boyfriend, and three children arrived home, they noticed signs of burglary. Walker then jumped out and attacked his ex-wife by putting her in a chokehold, and soaking her clothes with gasoline.

The altercation then moved outside, where Walker was seen trying to light her on fire. Her boyfriend then shot Walker.

During an interview, Walker confessed that he initially intended to set the house on fire with him still inside, however he was interrupted when the family arrived.

Walker was served warrants for Burglary 1st Degree, Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree, Aggravated Assault, 3-counts of Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit Arson, Simple Battery, and Reckless Conduct.

Walker is currently in stable condition at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and he will be taken to the Dougherty County Jail once he is released.
