Albany makes plans for Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in September

ALBANY, Ga. – Tuesday night, a committee meeting convened in Albany to make plans for this year’s forthcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is held annually in over 600 communities nationwide, representing the largest fundraiser globally for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. This motivational event invites individuals of all ages and abilities to unite in the battle against the disease.

Chrystal Bell, in coordination with the Alzheimer’s Association, provides insight into the importance of this event, highlighting its profound impact in raising awareness and crucial funds dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research initiatives.

“The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the largest fund raising awareness event for Alzheimer’s research care and support. The Alzheimer’s Association does this each year in about 600 communities nationwide. And, one of those communities is Albany, here. And, Albany is actually ranked seventh in the nation for prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease. So, it’s really important for our community to, you know, help contribute to the research as well as the Alzheimer’s Association provides care and support and education classes for people living with dementia or their caregivers and loved ones raised $104 million,” said Chrystal Bell.

“And, last year, the Alzheimer’s Association put $100 million into research into finding a cure. But, treatment or prevention for Alzheimer’s disease, as well as this is a fantastic community event to show support to people in our community who are going through Alzheimer’s, dementia and their caregivers. You know, caregivers are typically family members who spend their time to take care of their family members while they’re going through this. It’s important to show them that they’re not alone in what they’re going through and that there’s help and support out there for them,” said Bell.

If you’re interested in showing your support, mark your calendars for September 28th.
