Albany gearing up for Georgia Cities’ Week
Multiple events planned for Georgia Cities' Week
ALBANY, Ga. – The City of Albany is gearing up for Georgia Cities’ Week.
During that span, the Good Life City will be hosting a few events to help in aiding and improving the community.
Albany Public Information Officer, Krista Monk, says that cities week is a good chance for many of the people who call Albany home to tell their city leaders what they think about the current state of the city in an unofficial capacity.
“People keep telling me, ‘I wish the city would do this more often,’ or ‘I would love to see more of this,’ or they tell us what they want. And, this is an opportunity for them to tell us what we’re doing right and what they would like to see us do more of. And, we’ve gotten so much great feedback in the past,” said Monk.
During the week, Albany will be hosting a few events, such as a repeat of Food Truck Frenzy on Monday…
A sickle cell anemia blood drive Tuesday…
And, a city job fair on Thursday to name a few…
Monk says that cities’ week is also a great time to highlight the best aspects of Albany.
“This isn’t just something we’re doing just because we can. We’re doing it because we want to help our own community. So, if it reaches outside of Albany, that’s great. But, it also highlights all the things we do in the city it helps, like you said, small businesses,” said Monk.
But, more than anything, Cities’ Week is a great chance to do one thing for the people who run its multiple departments…say thank you.
“It’s a chance for the city to really get involved with the community, showcase all of the stuff we offer, all of the services we provide, kind of highlight our staff and everything they do,” said Monk.
With Georgia Cities’ Week set to kick off, many within the City of Albany are hoping that its residents will come out to support the Good Life City.
Other events during Cities’ Week in Albany will include ‘Coffee with the Fire Chief’ and tours of the firehouse next Friday followed by the Freedom Walk Race and Run next Saturday.
