Albany Fire Dept. provides update on Family Dollar store fire
ALBANY, Ga. – In the wake of a devastating fire on South Slappey Boulevard Tuesday morning, we managed to speak with the Albany Fire Department about Tuesday’s blaze.
Albany firefighters battled a blaze for over six hours early Tuesday morning, with the building’s roof partially collapsed.
Assistant Fire Captain James Brown spoke with us late Tuesday afternoon about the South Albany fire. While he did not rule out arson, he could not provide further details due to the ongoing investigation.
Brown did, however, lament the loss of an important community landmark in the fire.
“Well, first of all, I want to say that I’m saddened by the loss of a business in the community. Also, for the employees that were affected by it, and not only employees, but the people of the community that depended on this business,” said Assistant Fire Captain James Brown, Albany Fire Department.
The Albany Fire Department will be working with a state arson investigator.
