ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Civil Rights Institute (ACRI) is excited to announce Mr. Craig E. Moore, as its new Executive Director. Moore, a native of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, will lead the ACRI’s work to protect and share Albany’s civil rights history and make the Institute a hotbed for tourism and culture. In addition to oversight of the current staff and volunteers, Mr. Moore will collaborate with the 15 member Board of Directors to restore the Institute back to her former glory, through educational programming, community activities, and civic activism. The ACRI’s Executive Director Position will also report directly to Albany’s City Manager.

Mr. Moore brings strong leadership skills, deep community ties, and a wealth of historical and non-profit knowledge. As the former Coordinator of Housing Programs for the City of Albany, in the Department of Community and Economic Development; Mr. Moore was responsible for qualifying citizens and families for federal grant funds to repair and/or renovate their homes. The work was completed through partnerships with local contractors.

Mr. Moore is also a U.S. Veteran, having served in the 48th Infantry Brigade (Macon) of the Georgia National Guard. Moore received his Public Sector Leadership Certification, from the prestigious Albany Leadership Institute. He attended Georgia College (Milledgeville, BA in Management) and Mercer University (Macon, B.S. Organizational Leadership). A welcome reception for members and the community will be announced in the near future.
