WHY Now in its 25th year, this exhibition celebrates and elevates the creative voices of Southwest Georgia. The juried show provides vital exposure and support for regional artists while enriching the cultural life of our community.
The Albany Area Arts Council proudly presents the 25th Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition and Sale—the region’s largest juried art event, now marking a major milestone. This year’s show features 47 artists and 90 works of art, representing a powerful cross-section of the region’s talent and vision.
The public is invited to a celebratory opening reception on Thursday, June 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with an awards presentation at 7:00 PM. This free event is a highlight of Albany’s cultural calendar and offers an opportunity to engage with local artists and community supporters. The 2025 juror is Dr. Andrew Wulf, Executive Director of the Albany Museum of Art. Dr. Wulf brings more than two decades of museum leadership to the jurying process, including previous roles with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the New Mexico History Museum, and the USC Fisher Museum of Art. Artists will compete for cash prizes in three categories: painting/drawing, photography/digital art, and sculpture/ceramics. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place in each category, along with one Best in Show and multiple honorable mentions. The full exhibition will remain on view through July 23, 2025, during gallery hours (Monday–Thursday, 12–4 PM) or by appointment.
