ALBANY, Ga. — Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Albany Partner to Launch Comprehensive Community Resource Guide
New online directory connects residents to services, volunteer opportunities, and community organizations across Southwest Georgia.
The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the 2025 class of Leadership Albany to launch a new Community Resource Guide, an easy-to-navigate directory connecting Southwest Georgia residents to vital services, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
The digital guide features hundreds of listings across key areas – including health and medical services, housing and homelessness, food and basic needs, youth and education, arts and culture, veterans support, mental health, victim services, civic organizations, and more. Designed to be a living, community-centered tool, the guide aims to make it easier than ever for individuals, families, businesses, and service providers to find help and give help.
“This project represents what can happen when leadership, vision, and community come together,” said Matt Reed, President and CEO of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Chamber’s mission is to connect, build, influence, and lead — and this partnership embodies all of those values. By connecting people with critical resources and highlighting opportunities to serve, this guide strengthens the fabric of our region and ensures that everyone has access to the support they need.”
Created and compiled by members of the 2025 Leadership Albany class, the Community Resource Guide was born out of a shared goal: to ensure that everyone in the community — regardless of background or circumstance — knows where to turn for help. In developing the guide, the class identified a need for a centralized hub where residents could easily locate assistance or explore ways to give back through volunteerism.
“Leadership Albany’s mission is to cultivate leaders who are informed, connected, and committed to making a positive impact,” said Jackie Entz, Chair of Leadership Albany’s Board of Directors. “Several members of this class wanted to create something that would continue to serve long after our program year ends. They recognized that access is often the first step toward empowerment — and that when people are informed about where to find help or how to volunteer, the entire community benefits.”
To ensure accessibility and broad reach, the guide is housed in a PDF that will be linked on the Chamber’s website at AlbanyGA.com, the most visited website in the Albany area. From there, visitors can easily search listings by category and connect directly with local organizations. The website links to a printable PDF, ensuring that every resident — whether they prefer to access information digitally or on paper — can utilize the guide.
“The Chamber website was the natural home for this resource,” Reed said. “It’s where our community already goes to find information about local businesses, events, and opportunities. Hosting the guide there ensures it’s visible, shareable, and accessible to everyone.”
In addition to serving individuals and families seeking support, the guide also assists local nonprofits, schools, and civic clubs by expanding their visibility and connecting them with new volunteers and supporters. Businesses can use the guide to identify partnership opportunities or encourage employees to engage with local causes.
The 2025 Leadership Albany class represents a cross-section of professionals from across Southwest Georgia — including leaders in education, healthcare, business, government, and the nonprofit sector. Their collaborative effort reflects the diverse perspectives and shared commitment that drive the region forward.
“We encourage our community partners to share this guide far and wide,” Entz added. “Whether you’re someone who needs help, knows someone who does, or simply wants to get involved — this guide is for you.”
