AFD urges people to use caution for New Year’s Eve fireworks
(ALBANY, GA) – With New Year’s Eve celebrations happening tonight, the Albany Fire Department wants to remind anyone purchasing fireworks of a few things.
Fire Department Investigator, Samuel Harris spoke about making sure that if you’re planning on lighting fireworks on the 31st that you have a designated lighter.
Also, Harris wants anyone who’s lighting fireworks to be aware about how easy it could be to accidentally start a fire.
“These fireworks can easily set grass on fire. Also, be cognizant if you’re shooting things into the air that if they land on your roof, or a neighbor’s roof, or in a tree, that you make sure that it is out,” says Harris
The City of Albany says that fireworks will be allowed to be shot until 1 A.M. on January 1st.
