Adel Animal Control to host pet adoption drive
ADEL, Ga. – The city of Adel’s Animal Control department s getting set to help a few four legged friends find a perfect forever home.
We met with Adel Animal Control earlier in the week alongside a couple of the dogs who are going to be up for adoption on September 27th…
As well as why animal control is hosting the event.
“Our shelter is full. Every kennel has a puppy or a dog in it. And, we really need to find these dogs homes. We do our best to let them out. They come in my office…” said Donnalee Preston, Adel Animal Control.
And… dogs like “Oreo” and “Betty” the Pit bull are in need of a good home as animal control tells us.
“Pit bulls are some of the most common dogs we get down here. So unfortunately, it’s what most of our shelters are comprised of, as is pit bulls. Most owners, that’s kind of the popular dog to have, but nobody ever wants a big dog. They always want smaller dogs,” Ronan Ward, Adel Animal Control.
For Adel’s Animal Control the adoption drive is also a necessity for the sake of the dogs.
“We can only do so much and we are full. I mean, we’re overflowing. Most shelters are always overflowing, but having something like this where we can hopefully pair up a family with their pup is something that it’s kind of the whole reason why I got this job…” said Ward.
So… Adel leadership is hoping people will come out and adopt one of these dogs.
“You know, these dogs, they know that they’re adopted and you will get more love than you can ever imagine. So, yes, please adopt and don’t shop,” said Brandie Dame, Community Engagement Director, City of Adel.
And… Adel Animal Control wants people to know if they cant make it out on the 27th to reach out to them if you’re interested in adoption.
Adel Animal Control will host the adoption drive at Storybook Park on 211 2nd Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Friday.
