ABAC cuts ribbon on renovated Chambliss Building
TIFTON, Ga. – Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) unveiled the newly renovated Chambliss Building on Tuesday, September 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Chambliss has long served this campus. Now, with modern labs, collaborative spaces, and flexible classrooms, it’s equipped to serve our students and faculty in future-forward ways—enhancing how we teach, how students learn, and how we prepare the next generation of agricultural professionals,” said ABAC President Dr. Tracy Brundage at the ceremony.
Located at the north end of campus, the Chambliss Building was originally built in 1970 and has now been fully renovated. The facility continues to house Agricultural Technology laboratories while introducing new program areas. These include an Agricultural Education teaching laboratory, dedicated space for the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication, and the Georgia Department of Education–South Region Agricultural Education offices.
ABAC Provost Dr. Jason Goodner described the renovated building as “a place where ideas will grow, students will be inspired, and the future of agricultural education will be shaped,” emphasizing that the facility was designed with both faculty and students in mind.
With 22,215 square feet of space, the Chambliss Building is designed to advance specialized education and hands-on learning in support of Georgia’s largest industry—agriculture—while also highlighting emerging agricultural technologies.
Reanna Brown, a senior Agricultural Education major from Polk County, Florida, closed the ceremony by saying, “The remodel of Chambliss Building means more students than ever will have access to vital hands-on experiences that help shape them into well-rounded agriculture educators. This new opportunity will open doors for students to learn practical skills such as working on small engines, machinery, electricity, and even welding.”
As of Fall 2025, ABAC holds the distinction of having the largest number of undergraduate Agricultural Education majors in the nation. Graduates of the program also maintain a 100 percent job placement rate upon earning their degree.
