CORDELE, GA – Cordele District Attorney Brad Rigby says an Albany teen who is an admitted gang member, has pleaded guilty to charges in connection to the brutal beating of a youth detention center.

Wednesday, 18 year old Tahliq Jackson was sentenced to thirty years after his guilty pleas to aggravated battery upon a public safety officer, terroristic threats, and two counts of gang act violations.

Rigby says Jackson attacked a guard who was handing out snacks to inmates at the Crisp Youth Detention Center back in September of 2020

Rigby says Jackson is an admitted Blood gang member, who had drawn a very detailed picture of his planned attack.

The prosecutor says the accused created art which portrayed the officer’s head in a bag, with her decapitated body in the corner and asserted that she was victim 18.

Judge John Pridgen sentenced Jackson to 30 years to serve the first 20 years in the state prison system with the balance on probation for these offenses to include his extensive prior criminal history.
