Albany’s sewer spill alert
An estimated 27,000 gallons of sewage was discharged into the Percosin Canal system

ALBANY, GA- Albany city officials are reassuring the community that a recent sanitary sewer spill did not contaminate the city’s supply of drinking water.
Tuesday afternoon, city officials alerted to Sunday afternoon’s sewer spill at 701 Elm Street.
They say an estimated 27,000 gallons of sewage was discharged into the Percosin Canal system at the intersection of Gordon and Elm Street, due to power failure and heavy rainfall.
Actions were immediately taken to correct the issue. The overflow ceased at 5:45 PM, shortly after power was restored.
No City of Albany drinking water systems were affected, per the city’s press release.
