Worth County Superintendent responds to bomb threats made at Worth County Middle School earlier this week

WORTH Co., Ga. – Worth County School Superintendent Nehemiah Cummings released the following message in response to the bombs threats made to Worth County Middle School on Monday and Tuesday earlier this week.

“A message from the Superintendent

On Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24, bomb threats were made at Worth County Middle School. In both instances, students and staff were safely relocated as a precautionary measure while law enforcement conducted their investigations.

The individuals responsible for the bomb threats made on Monday and Tuesday have been identified and removed from the school setting. The Sylvester Police Department is pursuing charges of Terroristic Threats, and the individuals will be processed through the Department of Juvenile Justice. Additionally, disciplinary actions will be taken in accordance with the Worth County Schools Code of Conduct.

I commend the Worth County Middle School administration and our School Resource Officer for their swift, thorough, and professional investigation that led to the successful resolution of this matter.

I would like to extend our sincere thanks to our local, regional, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency management partners for their swift response and support over the last two days.

I also appreciate our staff, parents, and students for their flexibility and cooperation throughout the process.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.
