Former Lee Co. teacher turns herself in on alleged child molestation, sexual assault charges

LEESBURG, Ga. – A former Lee County teacher surrendered herself to authorities on Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, facing charges of child molestation and sexual assault by a teacher, principal, or other administrator.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) confirmed the individual as 29-year-old Danielle Weaver.

The case began after the Leesburg Police Department received reports alleging inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student and requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

On Feb. 5, the Lee County School System provided the following statement they sent out to parents regarding this investigation:

Reports and rumors are circulating concerning alleged inappropriate contact between a teacher and student in a Lee County School System school. We, at the 9th grade campus, can confirm that there is an ongoing legal investigation involving law enforcement concerning the alleged conduct of a former staff member who is no longer working for the district. Upon discovering the allegations, school and district leadership acted immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of students, as well as to conduct a thorough investigation.

The individuals who have been directly affected have been contacted. The district will continue to cooperate with law enforcement, as well as with those affected, to ensure that no obstacles to resolving the investigation exist.

Weaver faces the following charges:

  • Child Molestation
  • Sexual Assault by Teacher, Principal, Asst. Principal or other Administrator Engaged in Sexual Contact

According to the LCSO, Weaver’s bond has been set at $50,000, and each charge includes a $25,000 fine.
