Be On the Lookout: Stolen vehicle of two escaped inmates from Sumter Co. Jail spotted in Dougherty Co.

AMERICUS, Ga. – Albany Police Chief Michael Persley says a stolen vehicle believed to be used by two escaped Sumter County inmates was detected Monday by Albany’s FLOCK camera system.

Chief Persley says one of the two escaped inmates has family and other potential contacts in Albany, and a stolen gold Kia model vehicle with Georgia tag “SDK1126” was detected early Monday morning on North Slappey Boulevard.

Authorities warn the public not to approach the vehicle if it is spotted.

Officials say it remains unclear whether the inmates are still in the Albany area or how they allegedly obtained the stolen vehicle.

On Sunday evening, at approximately 9:30 PM, the two inmates escaped custody from the Sumter County Jail.
