South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: January 30, 2026
BRUTAL COLD: An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for all of SGA from 1 pm Saturday, Jan. 31 to 1 pm Sunday, Feb. 1 for wind chills as low as 2°-10°. Brutally cold with gusty winds up to 40 mph. Frostbite and/or hypothermia can occur within 15-30 minutes for those without adequate warmth. If you must venture outside, be sure to dress in multiple layers! Bundle up!
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for portions of northern, central, northeastern, and east-central GA for heavy snow up to 2 inches, blowing snow with reduced poor visibility, and very difficult to impossible travel conditions.

Cold Impacts: Vulnerable Populations… Warning Signs of Frostbite & Hypothermia…
• Wear protective clothing such as a hat, facemask, and heavy gloves or mittens if you plan to be outdoors.
• To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, wrap them, drain them, or allow them to drip slowly. Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above-ground pipes.
• Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
• Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, adequate food, and unfrozen water.
• Make frequent checks on older family members, friends, and neighbors.
• Ensure portable heaters are used correctly; do NOT use generators or grills indoors.
• Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
