Tifton Fire Dept. responds to house fire Monday morning; State Fire Marshal determines cause unintentional
TIFTON, Ga. – Tifton Fire Department (TFD) responded to a structure fire at 2011 Hall Ave early Monday morning.
TFD was dispatched at 03:36 AM and arrived on scene at 03:40 AM on December 29, 2025.
While en route, dispatch advised TFD personnel of a possible entrapment within the home.
Upon arrival on-scene, TFD immediately set up command and began extinguishment. One individual exited the home and confirmed another individual remained inside.
TFD crews entered the structure to search for the individual, located them, extracted them from the home, and turned the individual over to EMS care on-scene. This individual was determined to be deceased.
The individual who exited the home upon TFD arrival was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
TFD crews continued fire suppression activities, put out the house fire, and stood by to assure the fire would not reignite.
The state fire marshal arrived on scene and following investigation, determined that an unintentional kitchen fire was the cause. No foul play is suspected.
At this time, TFD is not releasing additional information, but encourages residents to install and maintain smoke detectors and to constantly employ fire prevention practices in their homes.
