GBI requested to assist Tifton Police Department in officer-involved shooting investigation in Tifton

TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Police Department (TPD) and multiple surrounding law enforcement agencies are currently responding to a shooting incident near the 800 block of Lee Ave that occurred this morning. This situation is ongoing and this area should be avoided.

This incident occurred in response to TPD’s attempt to execute a search warrant Friday morning.

In an effort to execute the warrant, two TPD Officers were shot and are in stable condition.

The suspect is currently barricaded in a home near the 800 block of Lee Ave.

TPD, along with nearby law enforcement agencies, are working diligently to control the situation.

We urge the public to monitor official TPD communications for accurate updates.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) assistance has been requested.

G.O. Bailey Elementary School is currently on soft lockdown out of an abundance of caution at this time.
