Albany Police Department to host Annual Gun Buyback and “It’s My Neighborhood, It’s My Community, It’s My City” event
ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Police Department (APD) is inviting community members to participate in “It’s My Neighborhood, It’s My Community, It’s My City” – a special gathering designed to foster open dialogue and unity across Albany in conjunction with this year’s Gun Buyback on Saturday, November 15, from 10 AM until 2 PM at the Veterans Park Amphitheatre. This community celebration will feature a long table, bringing residents together to engage in dialogue and conversation about ideas for strengthening neighborhood connections, revitalizing neighborhood watch programs, and enhancing clean-up efforts.
“It’s My Neighborhood, It’s My Community, It’s My City” will also include a variety of community partners and resources, providing information and support for residents interested in improving safety, communication, and engagement within their neighborhoods.
In conjunction with this event, the Albany Police Department will host the Annual Gun Buyback Event on Saturday, November 15, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Albany Civic Center parking lot. This initiative provides residents with a safe, anonymous way to turn in unwanted firearms and help reduce gun violence in our community.
Participants will receive a $100 gift card for each firearm turned in, with no questions asked. No identification is required, and all exchanges are 100% anonymous.
To ensure safety, all firearms must be unloaded and placed in the trunk or back seat of the vehicle.
Participants are asked to remain in their cars at all times, as officers will safely retrieve the firearms from each vehicle. Walk-ups will not be permitted.
In addition to the gun buyback, attendees can also safely dispose of unwanted medications at the same location, but in a different line.
Residents are encouraged to participate in both events as part of a shared commitment to building a safer and more connected Albany. For more information, please call 229-302-0776.
