South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: October 23, 2025
Albany, GA hit its coldest low so far this season of 42° this morning. Chill moderates with milder mornings in 50s and seasonably cool afternoons in the 70s this weekend. Rain returns in form of scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm late Sunday night, but mainly on Monday. Additional beneficial rainfall totals of 0.25″-0.75″. Slight cool-down mid-week is followed by possibly the coldest air of the season around or shortly after Halloween.
Tropical Storm Melissa is moving erratically and drifting north-northwestward with little change in intensity over central Caribbean Sea. The longer Melissa stays weaker, the better opportunity it has to move farther west over highest ocean heat content, and could rapidly intensify into a major hurricane. Melissa is expected to produce heavy rainfall across portions of Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Jamaica, bringing a risk of significant, life-threatening flash flooding and numerous landslides due to mountainous terrain. Melissa is forecast to meander for several days under light stirring currents, then gradually turn northward growing in size and will likely become a large and dangerous hurricane.
