Cordele swears-in new interim police chief

CORDELE, Ga. – On Tuesday morning, Sept. 30 Cordele City Commission Chairman Hon. Joshua Deriso performed the swearing-in ceremony for the new interim Chief of Police of the City of Cordele, Chief Connie Sampson.

Chief Sampson’s appointment marks a new chapter for the city’s police department, and officials are encouraging the community to welcome her to the role.

Chief Sampson succeeds former Chief Jalon Heard who submitted his resignation to the police department on Monday, Aug. 25 with his final day of service on Friday, Sept. 12 with the department. Heard is joining the Georgia Prosecuting Attorneys Council.
