Albany Technical College and Georgia-Pacific Corrugated Launch Paid Internship Program for Mechatronics Students Signing Ceremony Scheduled October 2

ALBANY, Ga. – Albany Technical College (ATC) and Georgia-Pacific Corrugated (GP) will formally sign an internship agreement on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Logistics Education Center Board Room, Room 201. This agreement creates valuable, real-world work opportunities for students enrolled in ATC’s Mechatronics and the Industrial Systems Technology program. The partnership is part of the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission’s Ecosystem Project and supports the state of Georgia’s broader mission to expand its advanced manufacturing workforce.

Through this internship, students will be able to work full-time hours at GP’s Albany corrugated plant, earning more than $22.00 an hour while gaining hands-on experience in industrial maintenance and automation. The program is expected to begin in Fall 2025 and will serve as a vital pipeline between technical education and high-demand careers in manufacturing.

“We are very excited about this new collaboration with GP,” said Judy Jimmerson, Associate Vice President of Career Services at Albany Technical College. “This is an opportunity for students to contribute not only to our local community’s workforce but to also support the state of Georgia’s mission to increase its number of manufacturing industries and provide the workforce talent needed to sustain them.”

“At Georgia-Pacific, we believe in creating virtuous cycles of mutual benefit. This partnership with Albany Technical College allows us to strengthen our local workforce while providing students with the real-world skills and experiences needed to self-actualize in high-demand careers. It’s a win for our community, our company, and most importantly, the students who are building the future of advanced manufacturing.” George Houston, HR Business Partner at Georgia-Pacific Corrugated Albany, Ga.

The internship aligns with Georgia’s workforce development goals by increasing the size, skill, and diversity of the state’s talent pool in sectors vital to economic growth.

Students interested in applying for the Industrial Maintenance Internship at the Albany corrugated facility should visit Albany Tech’s Career Development Center and Koch careers site and search job posting #175372. After submitting an application and meeting basic qualifications, candidates will be contacted to schedule an onsite interview with GP’s Albany maintenance team.
