South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: September 24, 2025

Patchy fog for a few areas tomorrow morning. Hot with scattered strong t’storms possible Thursday afternoon. An isolated storm may produce damaging wind gust and/or small sized hail, all thunderstorms capable of torrential downpours and frequent lightning. Showers and thunderstorms remain likely on/off throughout the day on Friday. Beneficial rainfall is welcomed, but with lighter rainfall totals (0.5″-1.5″) widespread or drought-busting rains are not expected. Seasonably cool mornings but warm afternoons this weekend into next week.

In the tropics, as expected, Tropical Storm Humberto forms in the central Atlantic. Forecast to move WNW or NW with a slower forward speed then accelerate to the NW and strengthen into at least a Category 2 or stronger perhaps Major Hurricane as it passes SW of Bermuda.  Invest 94-L located near Puerto Rico has a low chance of development over the next few days, but a high chance a tropical depression will form near or over the Bahamas later this week or this weekend. Interests in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Bahamas should monitor the progress of this system. Imelda is the next name on the list. It remains uncertain how these two systems may interact, and SE U.S. should monitor the forecast.
