All aboard the SAM Shortline Peanut Express as part of Plains Peanut Festival this weekend
PLAINS, Ga. – The annual Plains Peanut Festival is back this weekend, and you can skip the traffic by hopping aboard the SAM Shortline Peanut Express. The special train departs from Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, offering a scenic ride straight to Plains.
Once you arrive, you’ll have a four-hour layover to enjoy the festivities, beginning with the Peanut Parade at 11 a.m. Festival highlights include local vendors, entertainment, and of course, plenty of peanuts. For those who want to see even more, shuttle trains will provide short trips to Archery, the location of President Jimmy Carter’s boyhood home and farm, throughout the day.
Premium Service passengers will be treated to a hot breakfast onboard, while all riders will have access to drinks and snacks during the ride. It’s a relaxing and fun way to take part in one of Georgia’s favorite small-town celebrations without worrying about parking or traffic.
