South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: September 18, 2025
The rain-free streak ended on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 18 days for Albany, GA. Still on pace for the driest September ever recorded with a deficit for the month (-2.25″) & for the year (-3.64″). Latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows abnormally dry conditions (yellow) now includes more than half of Peach State. Moderate drought (tan) has developed and spread across SWGA. Spotty showers remain a slight possibility each afternoon the next few days into the weekend, but totals will be very light similar to yesterday. Better rain chances arrive mid-week next week. Hopefully you’ll see a few raindrops in your area. Flash drought or rapid onset of drought conditions remains possible. Water your lawns, gardens, and crops awaiting to be harvested. Be extremely cautious as outdoor burning is not advised. 4 days until Fall officially arrives with the Autumnal Equinox, September 22 at 2:19 pm!
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Gabrielle is a poorly organized tropical cyclone with its convection well to the east of its exposed center of circulation due to wind shear. Gabrielle is expected to slowly strengthen and may approach Bermuda as a hurricane early next week. Elsewhere, a tropical wave along the west coast of Africa is producing disorganized thunderstorm activity this afternoon. Some gradual development of this system is possible over the weekend through the middle of next week while it moves west-northwestward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
