“September in the South” hosted by Georgia State Assembly of Surgical Technologists brings educational, networking, and community support to benefit Tiftarea House of Hope

TIFTON, Ga. – Surgical technologists and healthcare professionals from across Georgia will gather in Tifton this weekend for “September in the South”, a day-long educational and networking event hosted by the Georgia State Assembly of Surgical Technologists. The meeting will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC), located at 52 Tech Drive.

Attendees can earn eight live continuing education credits in a single day while hearing from a lineup of expert speakers. The event will also feature a special keynote presentation from Dr. Derrick Standifer, author of Life is Like a Rubik’s Cube. Registration is $85.00 at the door and includes a hot breakfast, lunch, and a drink ticket for Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Thomas County, which will be on site with its signature coffee truck.

This year’s charity project will benefit the Tiftarea House of Hope, a local nonprofit that provides emergency and transitional housing for homeless women. Organizers are asking attendees to support the cause by bringing cash or card donations, items from the organization’s Amazon wish list, or gently used housewares, clothing, baby items, and décor for the group’s thrift store, The Bird’s Nest.

“September in the South” offers surgical technologists a chance to enhance their skills, connect with peers, and give back to the community.
