Lowndes Co. “Special Connections” support group hosts Movie and Dinner Night for adults with special needs
VALDOSTA, Ga. – A new support group in Lowndes county is creating fun, friendship, and community for adults with developmental disabilities.
The group, called “Special Connections”, was founded by Ann Foyt, R.N., with a mission to advocate, educate, and provide resources and social opportunities for adults with Autism, Down Syndrome, and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The group has applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and hopes to become a long-term resource for families and individuals in the special needs community.
Their next event is a movie and dinner meet-up happening Tuesday, July 15th. The evening begins with a 4 p.m. showing of “Superman” at Valdosta Cinema (1680 Baytree road). After the movie, the group will head to Pedro’s Tacos & Tequila Bar (110 North Ashley Street in Valdosta) for dinner at 6:30 p.m. Participants are responsible for the cost of their own movie ticket and dinner.
This event is part of “Special Connections’” broader mission to create social opportunities that help special needs adults build friendships and enjoy everything the Valdosta area has to offer.
