Body recovered from Flint River now identified by coroner
ALBANY, Ga. – According to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, the body of a male, which has now been identified, was recovered from the Flint River near the Radium Springs boat landing.
Coroner Fowler confirmed that the body is that of a man who jumped into the Muckafoonee Creek on Saturday, May 10th after a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officer approached him for a boat license check.
The body which was recovered by DNR crews has been identified as 35-year-old Eric Mash.
Coroner Fowler says drowning is the likely cause of death, but said the body would be sent for an autopsy to determine official cause of death.
Crews from GA DNR, Albany Fire Dept., and Dougherty Co. Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search of Mash over the weekend and on Monday.
