Cordele hosts Georgia Municipal Association’s Spring District 8 Meeting

CORDELE, Ga. – Local officials joined Georgia Municipal Association GMA’s executive team to discuss key legislative updates, common challenges, and shared goals.

City Manager Angela Redding says it was a chance for local governments to collaborate on shared concerns, from infrastructure to legislation.

And… for GMA, it’s a two-way conversation.

“So, we like to share with our members, make sure they know all the outcomes of new legislation, what passed, what failed. And, then, we also use them as listening sessions. We wanna make sure we’re listening to our cities and our members so that we begin to build our program and our legislation for next session,” said Larry Hanson CEO & executive director, GMA.

The meeting also touched on transportation funding, aging water and sewer systems, and how cities like Cordele can prepare for future growth.

Commissioner Vesta Beal-Shephard called it a proud day for the city, spotlighting a recent $30 million development deal and thanking the GMA for its continued support of communities like Cordele.
