Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission: Locate South Georgia Announces $532M in Investments in 2024
ALBANY, Ga. – Locate South Georgia, a regional partnership committed to economic development, released its 2024 Annual Report last Tuesday, April 17, highlighting an impressive $532 million in capital investment and the creation of 1,319 new jobs across its 23-county footprint.
Presented to over 40 economic developers and project managers from across the state—including representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Power, Georgia EMC, and Electric Cities of Georgia—the report underscores the collective success of our region’s economic development efforts.
“Collaboration is the premise of Locate South Georgia,” says board president Shelley Zorn. “In 2024, our region saw the power of coming together on a grand scale.”
Leading the 2024 list of announcements was Arglass in Lowndes County. The $230 million expansion will increase production flexibility, allowing the facility to manufacture up to eight different types of glass containers at once, while producing over 350 million sustainable containers annually.
“Locate South Georgia continues to demonstrate innovation and leadership,” said Daryl Ingram, senior vice president and COO of Electric Cities of Georgia. “This initiative has evolved into a dynamic, independent regional group of progressive economic development organizations driving growth across Southwest Georgia.”
The executive board of Locate South Georgia includes: Shelley Zorn (Thomasville Payroll Development Authority), Rick McCaskill (Development Authority of Bainbridge & Decatur County), Lisa Davis (Lee County Chamber of Commerce & Development Authority), Jana Dyke (Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission), and Grant Buckley (Cordele-Crisp IDC/IDA).
