Phoebe makes donation to 4C Academy for National Doctors’ Day
ALBANY, Ga. – This Sunday, March 30th, marks National Doctors’ Day, a day to recognize healthcare workers.
In honor of the occasion, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany is donating to 4C Academy, a charter school serving multiple counties in South Georgia.
We spoke with the President of Phoebe’s Medical Staff, Dr. James Black.
“Well, annually around the country, we celebrate National Doctors’ Day. And, back in 2007, the then President of the Medical Staff, Dr. Hasan Rizvi. We were kicking around ideas about what to do for the physicians in celebration of Doctors’ Day. He said, Why don’t we take that money and donate it to an organization in the community that’s making a difference?” said Dr. James Black, President of Phoebe’s Medical Staff.
“And, that suggestion was met with 100% approval of the medical staff in a just continued as a tradition. So, every year we pull the medical staff, the ideas about who might be a worthy recipient. And, this year we chose the Four C Academy, which has done great work in community developing our young minds, especially those with an interest in health care and technology,” said Dr. Black.
“And, so, we decided to make the contribution this year to the Force. The Academy,” said Dr. Black.
So, whether it’s a simple “Thank You” or a small act of kindness, take a moment this Sunday to show your appreciation on National Doctors’ Day.
