National Weather Service to survey storm damage from likely tornado in Sale City, Mitchell Co.
SALE CITY, Ga. – In the aftermath of the weekend’s tornadoes, we’re seeing the destruction those storms left in their wake.
CBS 44’s Brian Roche joins us live in Mitchell County, Brian, what are we seeing out there?
Well Cameron… I’m on the front step of what used to be the Mitchell county community center here on Pebble City Road, and this was definitely one of the harder hit areas here in Mitchell County.
The community center as well as the Pebble City Volunteer Fire Department were leveled in the weekend’s storms.
You can also see the Pebble City Baptist Church just off in the background, losing their steeple in the storms.
The Mitchell County Board of Commissioners has said that at this time, there are thankfully no injuries or deaths as crews continue to work on clearing the debris.
Now we have heard the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Florida will be conducting a survey of the damage later on this afternoon, we’re hoping to get a word with them.
