Coffee Co. father and daughter arrested on theft, simple battery, and drug charges after burglary investigation
DOUGLAS, Ga. – And, we start our afternoon in Coffee County where arrests were made following a burglary, that uncovered more than stolen property.
On Tuesday, deputies responded to Northside Mobile Home Park for a reported burglary. The victim told deputies her father, Vernon Smith, assaulted her during an argument. She also suspected Smith broke into her home while she was recently in jail.
Smith admitted to attacking his daughter and entering the home with Sierra Simmons to retrieve a photo album. A search warrant at Simmons’ home led to the discovery of narcotics.
Smith faces charges of simple battery and burglary, while Simmons is charged with theft by receiving and possession of controlled substances.
