Lowndes High School resumes normal operations, suspect in custody after weapon found on campus

VALDOSTA, Ga. – According to a post on the Lowndes Schools Facebook page,

“Viking Family,

After receiving information regarding a non-school-related incident, a weapon was located in a vehicle at Lowndes High School. During this event, a student fled, leading us to temporarily place Lowndes High School on a soft lockdown. A suspect is now in custody with charges pending. We are thankful for the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Valdosta Police Department’s expeditious response, resolving this matter within 15 minutes.

The safety of our staff and students has always been our top priority. Our school day has resumed as normal.”
