Lake Blackshear Resort to host Nature Weaving Workshop
CORDELE, Ga. – For those of you feeling creative, Georgia Veterans State Park in Crisp County is hosting a free Nature Weaving Workshop.
Participants will learn how to weave using only natural material, such as flowers, grasses, and branches.
“It originated in Native Americans, stuff like that. Like baskets, fish traps. But what I’m focused on is getting the basics down and getting the basic weaving down. The pattern of weaving the knots can come later, in a later program. What I’m want to, focus on is the weaving aspect, which is where you go under and over another loop, making a weave pattern. But, what I’m trying to do when I’m trying to focus on is getting kids out of that house, getting them active and motivated and enjoy nature, you know, like we used to,” said Dakota Counts, Employee, Georgia Veterans State Park.
The park’s next event will be “Build a Butterfly Garden” on March 8th.
