Ed’s Truckstop celebrates grand re-opening following devastating fire in Poulan
POULAN, Ga. – One Worth county business has their doors open again after a fire last Spring nearly cost them everything.
Just around 10 months ago, Ed’s Truckstop in Poulan was closed due to an unexpected fire. But now their doors are back open where they’ve been for decades.
We met owner, Gail Lee last year in the aftermath of the fire.
And, today, she’s understandably in much higher spirits.
“We’re excited to be back to work, have our restaurant back. Have all our customers back. The community support has been fantastic. We’re just excited to be here,” said Gail Lee, owner, Ed’s Truckstop.
It isn’t just Gail whose excited Ed’s Truckstop has been restored.
Plenty of people from across worth county have been packing the place during the re-opening.
And… they’re just as happy that a community fixture in ed’s is back in business.
“I think it’s great. I think this is a meeting place for our community. It brings everyone together and we’ve all been waiting for the day it would open back up… As soon as word gets out that this is back open and roads are safe to travel, after all this historic snow we’ve had, this place will be packed. It’ll be packed to the brim,” said John Cox, Poulan.
With the fire hopefully a distant memory, Gail just wants to thank the worth county community for having their backs over the last year.
“Words can’t describe how thankful for we are. Mr. Ed (Souter) and myself, we’ve got a lot of support from the community that we can’t you know, we can’t thank everybody enough for that. So, we just have to make sure that we do what we’re supposed to do at the restaurant that we’re taking care of. That way, they all know that they’re really loved and thought of,” said Lee.
In the meantime, they’re going to get back to serving the people the people of Worth county.
Ed’s has been serving the Worth county community since 1964.
