Crisp Co. Sheriff & EMA Director advises caution for residents
CORDELE, Ga. – A similar reminder of safety echoes over in Crisp county.
Sheriff Billy Hancock has an important safety message for Crisp county residents as icy conditions persist.
South Georgia hasn’t seen snow like this since the 70’s.
That being said the local areas have been impacted with most stores and restaurants being closed.
But… most important is your safety out on the roads as it can be slick and potentially dangerous throughout the day.
While the snowfall has ended, the accumulation will remain intact due to the cold temperatures.
If you find yourself in trouble because of the weather, be sure to contact your local EMS for assistance.
For viewers in Cordele, Sheriff Hancock shared a message with residents last night as the snow began to fall, urging everyone to prioritize their safety.
“Crisp County… The snow is falling. This means we’ve got to be very careful as we’re on our highways tonight and tomorrow. I encourage you at dark tonight. Please get off the roadway. The roads are going to be freezing. The temperatures are already below freezing, and the same will apply in the morning as you get up in the morning and start thinking about going to work and doing your chores tomorrow,” said Sheriff Billy Hancock, Crisp County Sheriff and EMA Director.
If you need to head out tonight, exercise caution… Most of us in South Georgia aren’t accustomed to these conditions.
