Crisp. Co. Sheriff & EMA Director urges citizens “to be off the roads by noon tomorrow”

CORDELE, Ga. – While Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) crews have been working around the clock brining the roadways including Highway 300 and Interstate 75, officials are warning South Georgians to stay off the roads as the winter storm begins.

Crisp County Sheriff & Emergency Management Director Billy Hancock has an urgent message for all residents:

**From the Crisp County Emergency Management Agency**

Wintry precipitation is expected to begin moving into Southwest and West-Central Georgia late Tuesday morning or early Tuesday afternoon. By sunset, it will cover most of Central and South Georgia. Snow accumulation is likely once the atmosphere becomes sufficiently moist, and travel conditions could deteriorate quickly on Tuesday afternoon. With temperatures remaining at or below freezing, these conditions may persist into Thursday.

We are advising local businesses to close at noon tomorrow and plan to reopen on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on updates from the Emergency Management Agency Director.

Sheriff Hancock urges citizens “to be off the roads by noon tomorrow.”
