Southern Bodies Fitness Center’s powerlifting meet “Lifting the Holiday Spirits” benefits Called to Care
TIFTON, Ga. – How about getting swole in the North Pole? Tifton powerlifters are all met for the lifting our holiday spirits event over the weekend.
The event was held for a great cause, with all proceeds benefiting Called to Care, a local organization dedicated to supporting foster children.
Powerlifters competed in bench press, squat, and deadlift, with their combined totals from all three lifts determining the winner in each weight division.
“Amazing, I never thought I’d be able to do what I did. I jumped and jumped numbers higher than I could imagine. Amazing. Just felt great,” said Tyler Coker, Powerlifter.
The atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, with everyone pushing to break personal records. Family and friends cheered loudly in support, and some families even competed together.
In the end, winners took home trophies, capping off a successful powerlifting event.
“Oh, the energy high was wonderful. I mean, I thank God for allowing me to be over here because for a great event, for a great cause, you can’t beat it. You cannot beat it, I loved it. Me and my wife, she came over to support us. My son, my daughter and my oldest brother, which was his 55th birthday today. We’ve been competing now for almost ten years, and we love it. Love the atmosphere,” said Mario McWell, Powerlifter.
Southern Bodies has hosted this event for four consecutive years, raising over $1,000 this weekend alone.
