Cordele Rail Museum to host third annual Cordele Railfan Festival on Saturday
CORDELE, Ga. – The third annual Cordele Railfan Festival kicks off tomorrow.
A place where you can get a ride on a real train…
Unlike the one I’m sitting on…
And… enjoy the toy modules all through the day.
The event takes place at the Cordele Rail Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring fun activities like a one-hour ride aboard historic railroad cars.
“If you’re a rail fan, the trains. And, then, SAM Shortline is running the train so you can take a train ride. And, then, we do this to enjoy running trains and more for the folks in the community to come look at and see. So, it’s not just just the train rides. There’s more going on,” said Todd Tate, event organizer.
It’s an event filled with indoor and outdoor fun, where top T-Trak enthusiasts showcase their personal setups.
This hobby also offers a fantastic way for railroad fans to come together and connect.
“Well, one of the neat concepts, we’re all been model railroaders since we were little kids, and now we’re going back to our childhoods again. But, what’s really neat about T-Trak is that we’re a collective of people from all the way from the Mobile, Alabama area up to the Chattanooga, Tennessee, and we can actually meet, and connect our little modules together to form a layout like what you see here. And, we build these at home and they’re connectable so we can form a layout anywhere we meet,” said Bruce Arbo, model railroad enthusiast.
If you want to participate in the fun tomorrow…
It’s $22 for a ride per person.
And… everything inside is free to enjoy.
