60th Annual Georgia Peanut Festival held in Sylvester
SYLVESTER, Ga. – It is packed in Sylvester for the 60th Annual Georgia Peanut Festival where all ages enjoyed the food and festivities.
The Georgia Peanut Festival offered a fun-filled day with numerous vendors showcasing their goods and plenty of delicious food.
Attendees enjoyed barbecue, seafood, funnel cakes, and, of course, lots of peanuts!
Families from multiple generations came out to celebrate together.
“I’m actually glad, you know, I’m able to comfortably come out here and Larry enjoy the time out. But it’s, it’s a it’s a great thing to see all these kids enjoy it. Where I enjoy it as a kid, you know is is a good thing to see,” said Christian Farley, Resident, Sylvester.
There was plenty for the kids to enjoy, with exciting games like an inflatable obstacle course and tramp jump.
These attractions have kept South Georgia residents coming back for 60 years and counting.
““It’s absolutely amazing. We do this for our community, our farmers. Just a great way to celebrate, and come together, you know, as a community. So, agriculture is the lifeblood of Worth County. What can we say? We’re worth visiting. And, this festival is put on by many, many facets. We have partnerships. This is the city of Sylvester. We can’t do it without, We have volunteers throughout the whole day. Jessica is a volunteer, the entertainment chair is a volunteer. These are volunteers. Everybody that comes to this, works throughout the year to put this on. Their time to help put on a community event for everyone,” said Jessica Crannis, Chair, GPF and Karen Rackley, President & CEO, Sylvester-Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce.
The next Georgia Peanut Festival Pets & Pals Parade is this Thursday at 5 p.m.
