Early voting polls open across Georgia

ALBANY, Ga. – A big crowd gathered all throughout the day at the Albany Civic Center.

As Dougherty county has its early voting for the first time today.

It was a fantastic first day, with so many people showing up that lines formed inside!

Early voting is available every day until November 1st, with extended hours on October 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, and 27th, ensuring everyone has a chance to cast their ballot…

Because every vote counts!

“Well, you can’t complain if you don’t vote. So, you got to vote. I mean, I started voting when I was 18, 17 years old. So, that’s been a long time ago. And, it’s important because every day, every time you vote, you’re voting for yourself and benefits to help you in future generations. And the younger generation needs to understand that it is important to vote. Cast your ballot,” said Bonnie Clark, resident, Dougherty Co.

What stood out to me the most was that families came together to vote…

It was meaningful for everyone to witness the process, even if they couldn’t participate themselves.

“To make sure I can… Number one, to make sure if something is going on with our voter registration, we got some time to fix it. And, also teach this. We took him out. He is 13, so he gets to. He says it every time. Yeah, for sure. We can teach him that voting is part of our family, and that it is necessary that we teach him that,” said Nick Hillery, resident, Dougherty Co.

There is still plenty of time to vote as today is just the first day of filling out ballots.

But… the general election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 5. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
