The 30th Cowpoke Carnival was the place to be over the weekend, with over 500 kids showing up to play carnival games and have fun.
The event offered a variety of activities and even featured Sumter county first responders and other local organizations.
“Yeah, it’s been great so far. This is the 30th Cowpoke. So we are excited that we get to do this every year for the Americus, Sumter community. And, as you see, the turnout is great. So, it’s been a great event. We have, paint your cookie. But the crowd favorite has to be the fish. So, if any of the kids come to cowpoke, they go home with a fish, a little goldfish that they can keep alive and enjoy and reminisce on their time here,” said Courtney Ellis, event organizer.
Kids could enjoy face painting, bounce houses, and win prizes, with tickets priced at just two for a dollar!
The Americus Junior Service League made the event extra special by encouraging both kids and adults to dress up in cowboy and cowgirl outfits, adding a unique twist.
It was a memorable day, made possible by the support of the Americus community.
“We were actually reflecting on that earlier today. This is a really big opportunity for people in America to get out to meet one another, but also just to show it takes a lot of community volunteers from GSW students, our South Georgia Technical College also provided volunteers as well. But, fire department, police department. So, it’s just always so heartwarming to see how many volunteers come together to make this event. So, we are always so thankful for all of our volunteers,” said Ellis.
The events don’t stop in Sumter county this month,
As the Sumter Fire and Rescue are set to host a Touch a Truck event this Saturday.
