Dougherty County Public Library encourages participation for Library Card Sign-Up Month
ALBANY, Ga. – Library Card Sign-Up Month is here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to dive into a world of adventure and knowledge.
Each September, the Dougherty County Public Library’s five locations organize a series of events and initiatives to celebrate national Library Card Sign-Up Month.
“We encourage people in the community to sign up for a library card. Library cards give you access to a lot of different resources that people might not necessarily think of. In order to get a library card. You just have to have your photo I.D. This can be a driver’s license or a state issued I.D. and proof of your current mailing address. The Georgia Public Library Service is encouraging patrons to use the different resources in their library,” said Sarah Shelton, Senior Branch Manager of the Northwest Library.
Sarah Shelton, Senior Branch Manager of the Northwest Library, highlights several resources available to the public, emphasizing the library’s commitment to providing more than just books.
“Well, we have a lot more than just books, which is what a lot of people just associate libraries with. We have everything from DVDs, to audio books to laptops. We have hotspots even, which is really cool,” said Shelton.
To learn more about the activities taking place during this month, visit the Dougherty County Public Library’s calendar for a full schedule of events and opportunities.
“We do have a calendar that can be picked up at the front desk of the library, or you can go to our Facebook page and see it there as well,” said Shelton.
